We are not Our Roles
We're all Students, Teachers, Followers, and Leaders
Our norm, is to not put any limits on the possible roles through which we may each choose (or not choose) to interact: Friend, Business Associate, Lover, Coach, Housemate, Co-leader, Team Member, Facilitator, etc.
Just because we've served each other in one set of roles doesn't mean that we won't choose to reverse the roles or add additional roles or permutations later.
We're all at choice in each moment:
-
To choose whether we step into a role ourselves;
-
And to choose whether or not to accept someone else's offer to interact with them in a given role.
When not actively leading a workshop (or facilitating a private session), no one is under any obligation to be anything other than themselves — we don't expect people to be teachers, facilitators or space holders when they're not actively leading a workshop or a formally holding a private session.
Even inside of a given workshop, a facilitator might lead one section of the workshop and then fully participate as a student in another section of the workshop.
We learn so that we can teach …
